took place XIV International Grain Round «Grain market – yesterday, today, tomorrow» in Gelendzhik, Krasnodar Region
The event was visited by over 800 representatives from 31 countries including Russia, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, Indonesia, Singapore, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other countries.
The General Sponsor of the Round was KRASNODARZERNOPRODUKT, Official Marine Partner – Inflot. Sponsorship was provided by Schyolkovo Agrochim, Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, BI Granum, SKAT, UralKaliy, Shturman Kredo, Stroykomplekt.
Agro Business-Forum «Exclusive services in agriculture» was sponsored by SAP CIS and Ingosstrakh Insurance Company.
In the event’s frameworks problems of legislative provision, state regulation of the grain market, forecasts of production, price dynamics and grain market conditions were discussed as well as the use of new technologies of grain production, processing and storage, the development of transport and financial infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the grain industry competitiveness in Russia’s membership in the WTO and the main directions of technological modernization, use of GM technologies in Russia, as well as the problems of credit, new instruments of financing and grain business insurance.

XIV International Grain Round started its work in the evening of June 04, Tuesday with the welcoming cocktail organized by the conference partners Kuban Vino and Shato Taman where splendid vines and brandies were presented. There was held the Agro Business-Forum «Exclusive services in agriculture» where such issues as innovations and IT in agribusiness as well as «wants» of Russian agro-sector in vulnerable conditions were discussed.

The first day of the conference work started with a perambulation of the exhibition by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilya Shestakov. For the first time the exhibition worked all three conference days where a record number of exhibitors – 23 – acted in a separate hall that before was used for holding plenary sessions, and now, due to the increased number of participants, working sessions of the Round are held in the main concert hall of the hotel!


Session 1 «Competitiveness of Russian agrarian policy» was opened by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Ilya Shestakov with the message concerning peculiarities of the grain market state regulation, priorities and instruments of agricultural development state program and ways to support grain producers. The first session, as well as others, was moderated by the Vice-President of the Russian Grain Union Alexander Korbut. Of particular interest among Conference participants was the report on the development of competition in the grain market after Head of Economy sectors Development Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alsu Gaynutdinova.

The session continued with a discussion where their views on the development of agriculture and agri-food market, the impact of government regulation expressed President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy, Director General of Schyolkovo Agrochim Salis Karakotov and Deputy Director General of the United Grain Company Timur Butov.


Great interest among the participants caused panel discussion called «Russian agricultural sector after establishment of Customs Union and affiliation to the WTO: first results and first problems», where speakers of the first session were joined by new discussants.
For example, in his presentation, Head of Agricultural Subsidies Division of Agroindustrial Policy Department of Eurasian Economic Commission Roman Romashkin reflected the approach and goals of Agrarian Policy of the Common Free Market Zone. The discussion was continued by presentation of the First Deputy Director General of Rusagrotrans Oleg Rogachev covering main issues of railway grain cargo transportations in the coming season. In the frameworks of the discussion interests of both grain market operators and other industries, namely sugar beet production, were covered. Deputy Chairman of Board of Soyuzrossakhar Sergey Mironov clearly showed the audience key trends of sugar market in Russia and abroad.


Among the discussion participants were Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Ilya Shestakov, Head of Economy sectors Development Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alsu Gaynutdinova, President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy and Director General of Krasnodarzernoprodukt Alexey Sidyukov.

Second session of the XIV International Grain Round was dedicated to terms of agri-food sector and the grain market development at the international level. It started with an exciting and interesting presentation of Director of the Institute of Economics and Sociology of Argentina Dr. Eugenio Julio Cap where he described main directions and results of GM technologies development in Argentina. Dr. Cap for the second time takes part in the conferences of the Russian Grain Union. He first came to Moscow in November 2012 at the conference «Grain Industry in the XXI century». This was followed by a discussion on the use of GM technology in Russia, where the participants expressed their opinions, namely the President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy. The session was continued by the General Director of «ProZerno» Vladimir Petrichenko who showed the participants key trends of the global grain market.

Also within the second session of the Round was formally presented with a sponsor certificate General Director of Schyolkovo Agrochim Salis Karakotov.

The first day of the Round ended not in a conference hall, as everyone might expect, but at the playground of «Kempinski Grand Hotel Gelendzhik», where the football tournament was held between the conference participants!

The second day of the XIV International Grain Round started with the panel discussion «Forecasts for grain and oilseeds production in 2013/14». The problems of production, balance sheet and grain market situation were covered. During the session their forecasts, estimates and recommendations expressed General Director of Institute for Agricultural Market Studies Dmitry Rylko, General Director of «ProZerno» Vladimir Petrichenko, Head of Agriculture Production Department of Inspectorate R Vitaly Smirnov, President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy and Deputy Director General of the International Grain Company Nikolay Demyanov. Head of Foreign Trade Department of Khlib Investbud Andrey Druzyaka expressed in his report the latest trends at the grain market of Ukraine, plans for future and forecasts.



The third conference session was dedicated to the problems of investments in agriculture. Among the participants were Head of Administration of State Procurements Financing of Rosselkhozbank Alexander Kovyrshin, Vice-President of Alfa Bank Sergey Andreev, Deputy Chairman of Board of Necklace Bank, Ltd Elena Marks andPresident of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy.

The XIV International Grain Round closed in the evening of June 06 with the gala-dinner with the traditional awarding of the Conference sponsors the certificates of the Russian Grain Union and lottery – thus, it was for the first time when the participants gained free passes to the RGU private event – «Grain Session» and free subscription to the analytical bulletin «Ad hoc grain» by RGU!
Along with the saturated business program of the Round on June 07 there was a trip to Tuapse Grain Terminal organized, where the participants familiarized with transport infrastructure, basic shipping capacities of the terminal as well as with the complex sea multiplier.
The General informational partner of the ñonference was Interfax, the Official informational partner – Zerno On-Line. In the mass media the ñonference was covered by such news agencies as Bloomberg, Reuters, RosBusinessConsulting, RBC-daily, as well as by the Rossiyskaya Gazeta, World Grain, etc. The TV-broadcasting was effected by regional channels.
