X International Grain Round
“Grain market – yesterday, today, tomorrow”
took place
in Belek, Turkey (Ela Quality Resort)

The event was visited by 200 representatives from 13 countries worldwide including Russia, Switzerland, Germany, France, Great Britain, USA, Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.

In the first session “State and the Grain Market” the topics covered at the World Grain Forum were raised, namely the first year results of State Program on Agriculture Development conduction and objectives for 2009, the anti-crisis measures, the effectiveness of intervention operations. Also as part of the session topical issues of grain sector and agriculture state regulation were discussed, directions and prospects of public-private partnership in grain sector, key outcomes of grain year were summarized, the quality of Russian wheat was assessed. Among session speakers there were President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy, Deputy General Director of the United Grain Company Aram Gukasyan, General Director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies Dmitry Rylko, Department Head of Rosinspectorat Vitaly Smirnov.

The second session was dedicated to problems in “Grain Market Infrastructure”. Thus, the current situation and development prospects of railway grain transportations were covered in the report of the First Deputy general Director of Rusagrotrans Oleg Rogachev.

Subtleties of agri-crediting mechanisms and instruments in crisis conditions together with risk management in grain business and stock exchange were revealed in the report of Director General of the National Mercantile Exchange, Sergey Naumov. Also in the discussion took part Management Head of Rosselkhozbank Alexander Kovyrshin and Head of Department of AlfaStrakhovanie Irina Latyntseva.

The third session dealt with “2008/2009 Grain Year Lessons and Forecasts for the New Season” as well as the Black Sea grain market situation in 2009/10 with the participation of General Director of ProZerno Vladimir Petrichenko and Deputy General Director of the International Grain Company Nikolay Demianov.

Also as part of the Conference there was a Round table on “Problems and Ways to Build Partnerships between Grain Market Operators and Freighters”. The event’s business program was summed up by Grain Market Analysts, among them – President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy and General Director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies Dmitry Rylko.

Participants of the X International Grain Round brilliantly proved themselves not only in the congress hall of “Ela Quality Resort” hotel but on its volleyball court, where the Beach Volleyball tournament for the cup of the Russian Grain Union took place!
