took place VI International Grain Trading Conference
“Global and Middle East grain outlook 2011”
in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
The Conference was visited by 200 representatives from 19 countries including Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, USA, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, France, Netherlands, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Algeria, Japan and other countries.

General sponsorship was regularly provided by the largest Egyptian agrarian holding ABO DONKOL, sponsorship – by SKAT, Louis Dreyfus Commodities, Actava Trading, International Grain Company, first conference session was sponsored by CLARKSONS. The Conference was supported by Inflot, Buhler and Iliotropion.
In the Conference frameworks the world’s leading experts from major grain producing countries have provided estimates of the current state and trends of the situation at the world grain market, major results of 2010/11, freight market development prospects and its impact on grain market, covered the impact of the situation at financial markets on grain market, problems of risk management in the international grain trade, legal aspects of grain supply to the Middle East countries. Possible scenarios of production, consumption and world grain trade development, considering population growth and global climate change, development of programs for biofuel production and deep processing of grain, transfer of grain production to other countries have been presented.

The welcoming speech at the Conference opening was presented by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Ilya Shestakov, Council to the Minister of Agriculture and Melioration of Egypt Fawzy Naem and Undersecretary of Import affairs of GASC (Egypt) Mohamed Abdallah.


The first session “World grain market: condition, prospects, new season trends” was moderated by the President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy who opened it with the Russian Grain Union Certificate awarding the Clarksons company in the person of its Managing Director Essam Bella.

In the frameworks of the session “World grain market: condition, prospects, new season trends” such world’s leading experts as Christian Bickert (DLG-Mitteilungen, Germany), Laurine Simon (Tallage SAS, France), Tom Lines (Oxfam, Great Britain) and Sayed Elmeslemany (Actava Trading, UAE) presented their countries’ view at the current state and trends of the situation development at the world grain market, particularly wheat market. The situation at grain market of Saudi Arabia was covered in the report of Director of Grain Silos & Flour Mills Organization (GSFMO) HE. Waleed Elkhereiji.


Particular interest among the Conference participants caused the Round table of grain market experts “Current situation at the world wheat market: expectations of both exporters and importers. Price volatility. New harvest grain price changes scenarios”. To the previous speakers added a recognized Russian expert, grain and oilseeds market analyst, general director of ProZerno company Vladimir Petrichenko. The Round table discussion was moderated by Christian Bickert Director of DLG-Mitteilungen (Germany).

The first day of the Conference ended with an international tournament of the Russian Grain Union in beach volleyball with the participation of heads of federal executive bodies regulating the agro-industrial complex globally and the world’s leading experts in grain market!

The second Conference session was totally dedicated to the legal aspects of grain trade in the Middle East countries. The recommendations for claims settlement were provided by Igor Semenov, the Lawyer of the International Law Group AstapovLawyers.

Really fascinating was the panel discussion on the topic “Black Sea grain – the return to the market”. The moderator, Vice-President of the Russian Grain Union Alexander Korbut, professionally asked questions to the panelists, among them was Vice Chairman of the largest state importing company of Egypt GASC Nomani Nasr Nomani, who despite his busy schedule, arrived at the event from Cairo! In the discussion also took part Director of Grain Silos & Flour Mills Organization of Saudi Arabia (GSFMO) HE. Waleed Elkhereiji, general director of ProZerno company Vladimir Petrichenko, Deputy General director of the International Grain Company Nikolay Demianov, General Director of Beliy Dvor Artem Ekushevskiy and the President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy.



VI International Grain Trading Conference “Global and Middle East grain outlook 2011” closed at the evening of October 20 with the gala-reception with the traditional awarding of the Conference sponsors in a cozy restaurant of the hotel “Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh” and with participation of Chinese circus!
