About conferences
The Russian Grain Union from its establishment in 1994 and under the auspices of state ministries and departments, among them are the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation, Federal Tariff Service, the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Russian regions’ administrations has become an organizer of a number of international events.
Among them is the World Grain Forum held on 06-07 June, 2009 in St. Petersburg at the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev together with the Government of the Russian Federation and under the auspices of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The target audience of the World Grain Forum was presented by world’s countries delegations headed by agriculture ministers, heads of international organizations, national associations of grain manufacturers and operators, financial institutions that invest in development programs and world trade in agriculture products. The World Grain Forum has become the first event that joined more than 1.5 thousand members of the agrarian market from 60 countries.


On 25-26 February, 2010 the Russian Grain Union together with«Sojitz Corp.» (Japan) held the Ist «International Grain Trade Conference: Asia - Russia 2010» in Singapore. The event was organized to implement the proposal of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev on the establishment of the Far Eastern Grain Corridor, and it became a pioneer in the development of export relations between Russia and Asian countries, funding mechanisms for grain purchases, the prospects for grain export through the ports of the Far East. Among the Conference participants there were largest agrarian corporations from Asian countries – Indonesian Bogasari Flour Mills, Malayan Flour Mills Berhad, Thai Flour Mill Industry Co. Ltd. and Laemthong Corporation Group, leading Chinese logistic company Shun Shing Group and others.


On 16-18 February, 2011 in Krasnaya Polyana, Krasnodar Territory the Russian Grain Union together with «Schyolkovo Agrokhim» CJSC organized the Ist International Agro-technological Conference «Agro-high tech – XXI: innovations, modernization and profitability of agribusiness». In the frameworks of the Conference current issues of technological modernization in agricultural sphere were discussed as well as application prospects of innovative technologies in cereals, oilseeds and sugar beet production, agriculture products processing and storage, ways of problems solutions in finance and investment attraction sphere for technological reequipment and increase in plant growing competitiveness.

The International Grain Trade Conference is one of the traditional events organized by the Russian Grain Union that starting from 2006 is held annually at the Red Sea shore in Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh. It is the business ground where large grain traders from the Middle East countries gather together. Among them are Egyptian companies VENUS Int., CAIRO THREE A, Al Nada Flour Mills & Al-Monairy for corn products, Midgulf International (Jordan), Big Mills of the South (Lebanon), Alkhateeb Trading Co (Syria) etc., that meet to discuss the future development of freight market, the impact on market conditions and exchange rate policy of grain futures markets, risk management in the international grain trade. Particular emphasis is placed on the discussion of legal aspects of grain supply to the Middle East countries.


The International Grain Round «Grain market – yesterday, today, tomorrow» – is one more traditional event of the Russian Grain Union that starting from 2000 is held every summer and is the ground for discussion of basic results, problems of legislative securing and state regulation of grain market, production prognosis, price dynamics and grain market situation, the use of new production technologies, grain proceeding and storing, transport and financial infrastructure development. The XIIth International Grain Round «Grain market – yesterday, today, tomorrow» that took place on 06-08 June, 2011 in Gelendzhik, Krasnodar Territory was held under the aegis of Russian grain export ban removal and united about 400 heads and top managers of all Russian companies in grain industry as well as more than 30 companies from 13 world’s countries including Switzerland, Germany, France, Great Britain, USA, Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine.


On September 08, 2011 in Moscow the Russian Grain Union together with the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies hold the next XVIIth Annual International Conference «Black Sea Grain and Oilseeds 2011/12». Historically, this Conference is a forum for active discussion on the current situation at grain and oilseed markets in Russia and globally, where top officials of ministries and departments of the Russian Federation meet representatives of the agricultural business. Thus, among constant speakers at the International Conference «Black Sea Grain and Oilseeds»are Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Korolev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Andrey Klepach, Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation Andrey Tsyganov, Head of Transport regulation management of the Federal Tariff Service of the Russian Federation Viktor Kvitko, President of Chicago analytical company «AgResource», one of the world’s leading grain and oilseed markets’ analysts Dan Basse, President of the U.S. Wheat Associates Vincent Peterson, Director of LMC International Ltd. SimonBentleyand others.


«Russian Grain» is another traditional event of the Russian Grain Union that in different years was held in Rostov-on-Don, Krasnaya Polyana and in 2010 – in Novosibirsk. In the work of the conference «Russian Grain – 2010. Siberian vector» took part 154 representatives from 11 countries including Kazakhstan, Japan, France, Bangladesh, Egypt.


Moreover the Russian Grain Union is the organizer of a number of study seminars (Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Moscow), where all the participants are awarded with the certificates issued by the Russian Grain Union.
In 2011 the Russian Grain Union started a new project called «Grain Session» (Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Moscow), where the most pressing issues of state and scenario forecasts for grain market situation development are discussed. Meetings are held every three months under the «closed» club with a limited number of participants, which allow leading industry analysts and leaders of the grain sector, heads of leading operators of grain and grain processing markets, transport companies, representatives of state power of the Russian Federation freely conduct an informal discussion. Among constant speakers and participants of the «Grain Session» meetings are General Director of ProZerno Vladimir Petrichenko, Deputy Director of the Food, proceeding industry, agrifood market regulation and production quality department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Sukhov, General Director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies Dmitry Rylko, Deputy General Director of the United Grain Company Aram Gukasyan, Deputy General Director of the International Grain Company Nikolay Demianov, President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevskiy, representatives of Rusagrotrans, Federal Tariff Service of the Russian Federation and many others.
