On 14-15 of September at the Radisson Hotel, Rosa Khutor 5*, Krasnaya Polyana resort, Sochi there was held the XXVIII International Conference “Black Sea Grain and Oilseeds 2023/24”.

More than 150 representatives from all the regions of Russia, as well as from the countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, Latvia, Greece, Turkey and the Federal Republic of Germany took part in the conference.

The event was sponsored by "Leon" Laboratories.

The conference was covered in the press by such agencies as ProTradeExpert, Agroinvestor, Bulletin of the Agroindustrial Complex, telegram channel Agrotochka, Miller magazine, Agribusiness magazine, business portal APK Expert, information portal AgroVestnik, Tsenovik Magazine, portal Actual Agrosystems, agricultural magazine Agrarian Sector, information portal PortNews, magazine for specialists of the agro-industrial complex Agricultural News, magazine of the agricultural manager NSH, information portals Direct.Farm and Agropraktika.

The event was held for the first time in the hospitable city of Sochi at the Krasnaya Polyana resort.

The conference covered such important topics as the completion of the grain deal - prospects for work in the Black Sea region, adaptation of exports to new financial restrictions, trends and prospects for the development of the situation on the grain and oilseeds market in the current season.

The moderator of the conference was the Soviet and Russian journalist, TV presenter, radio host, producer, as well as the founder of the Krestyanskie Vedomosti media group, Igor Abakumov.

The first session traditionally began with a greeting of the President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky. His speech set the pace of the event, put the participants in a working mood and positioned them for further discussion.

The conference continued with a speech by Pyotr Korotchenko, the Deputy of the Duma of the Stavropol Region.

This was followed by a presentation by Daria Tarasenko, senior analyst at the Center for the Economic Forecasting at Gazprombank, who discussed the main issues of the Russian economic development, government policy measures affecting the exchange rate, as well as competition for resources in the Russian economy.

Also during the session, the main topics of which were the dumping of the Ukrainian grain, completion of the grain deal, transformation of the agricultural economy, medium-term trends in the development of the agro-industrial complex and business development opportunities, took part Dmitry Rylko, General Director of IKAR.

The session ended with an active and lively discussion between the speakers and the participants.

The second session “New challenges in the 2023/24 season - logistics and finance” began with a presentation made by the representative of "Leon" Laboratories, Trading House "Delma" Irina Yanushevskaya. The head of the laboratory spoke about the problems and the opportunities for confirming the quality of grain and oilseed products. Evgeniy Popov, freight broker at Nitro Shipping, in turn, provided freight market analytics and spoke about the effective freight policy. Director of the Otkrytie Broker branch Anastasia Gorbaneva touched upon the adaptation of exports to new financial restrictions, the Marketing Director of the Ruscon Company Dmitry Kutateladze spoke about the main importing countries of agricultural products, complex logistics for sending agricultural products from Russia and the main sea routes of the foreign trade services.

The third session was devoted to trends in the development of the situation at the grain and oilseeds markets in the current season. The main topics of discussion were:

• World Market and the Black Sea region - results of the past and trends of the new season;
• Harvest 2023 – quality indicators of the new harvest; Competitiveness of Russia at the oil market;
• Pulses in the new season: World Market and the Black Sea region - results of the past and trends of the new season, potential and geography of supplies.

During the session the following speakers had a word:

• Dmitry Rylko, General Director of IKAR, with an overview of the situation at the grain markets - 2023/24. The conclusions were as follows: the stocks of wheat among the main exporters are very limited, and its quality is low. However, there are still some powerful factors at the market that are holding back the price's increase:
• A good reserve in the key importing countries;
• The high growing cost of money on the world financial markets;
• Another record for exports from Russia.

Vladimir Petrichenko, General Director of ProZerno. The analyst spoke about the starts and the prospects for the 2023-24 oilseed season, the global balance of the oilseed market and the price index.

Lyubov Nedilko, Manager of the Labinsky Elevator, had a speech on a topic related to the current market challenges and the main consumer markets.

As part of the conference, a smart-talk took place for the first time with the President of the Russian Grain Union Arkady Zlochevsky, who answered the crucial questions of the hour to Igor Abakumov and the participants of the event.

The conference ended with a cocktail party, where the participants continued their communication in an informal atmosphere.
